Winners of the 2008 Maningning Miclat Art Competition
Arts, poetry, songs and dance reigned at the awards night of the 2008 Maningning Miclat Art Competition held at the Art Plaza of the Shangri-la Plaza Mall on September 24.
The 2nd prize went to the painting, Yes, I’m Alive by Sherwin Callejo of Technological University of the Philippines. Rudolf Serrano, also of Earist, won the 3rd prize for his Bloomingly Red Night. The latter was also declared Art Circle Gallery favorite.
The competition, sponsored by the Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, in cooperation with the Art Circle Gallery and Shangri-la Plaza, attracted more than 80 entries from 20 universities, colleges and schools from Luzon and the Visayas. The board of judges short-listed 38 paintings for exhibit/sale at Shangri-La Plaza Mall from September 19 to 30.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was also held on the awards night to officially open the art exhibit.
